Life’s Legacy

Was it not just yesterday
When foolish youth wished time away?
Life seemed an endless path to stroll,
With no thought of ever growing old.

With age now comes a faster pace
As Father Time joins in the race.
A challenge, as each new year wanes,
To make the most of what remains.

Precious, these years we dare not waste,
For the riper the fruit, the sweeter the taste.
This, our legacy, bestowed at birth . . .
But one fleeting moment upon this earth.
